Nanaimo Regional District’s New Online Map Makes Access to Property Information Easier – Nanaimo News Bulletin

The Nanaimo Regional District has a new online zoning map that provides information on zoning and real estate planning.

The online tool is designed to be useful for property owners, property buyers, real estate agents, and others looking for property information. The map applies to properties located in all Electoral Zones except Electoral Zone B, where zoning is managed by Islands Trust.

The regional district anticipates that making the map a publicly available resource will free up time for RDN staff to review construction and development requests and respond to more complex information requests.

“The Zoning Map is an easy-to-use addition to RDN’s online toolkit that helps residents and others find property information,” said Bob Rogers, RDN Director and President of the electoral zone services committee. “We are delighted with the progress made in making information even more accessible to the public. “

The zoning map is just one of the online tools that the public can use to acquire property data. The RDN also has an online “Ask Planning” form for information requests. The online form helps the RDN provide a faster response to inquiries as well as track commonly searched information that can be used to improve the resources available on the website. For those who wish to review, ask questions, and provide feedback on ongoing development request submissions, there is a dedicated page on the RDN. To have Implied website. The page provides information on all active RDN zoning and official community plan amendment requests initiated since 2020.

These tools are part of RDN’s larger effort to improve scheduling services and complement the recently announced Development Application Processing Technology Upgrade Project. The evaluation phase of the project, funded by a grant from the local government development approvals program, will be launched this year to determine the best technological solution to better serve residents and businesses seeking construction approvals and of development.
