Critically Acclaimed Medieval Building Destruction Game Invites Player-Created UGCs
Besiege, a physics building game developed and published by Spiderling Studios, launches this week with UGC sharing support on Xbox consoles and full mod support for PC Games Pass.
The critically acclaimed game will replenish players with new player-created in-game content powered by mod.io. Player-created machines will be available for in-game download from February 10, with developer Spiderling eager to see what their community of passionate creators come up with.
“Creating and sharing war machines is at the very heart of what Besiege is. Having a robust and powerful workshop where players can exchange their designs and mods is an essential tool for the community. We are excited to see the fantastic creations community that this new chapter of Besiege will bring!” said Matt Woolven, director of Spiderling Studios.
Simulator games supported by mod.io have over 600,000 pieces of player-created mod content, which were downloaded over 100 million times in 2021. Official mods for supported games on consoles are proving extremely popular as a new unique feature across platforms, with user-generated content uploaded up to five times more often compared to PC.
“Player choice matters more than ever, giving gamers the unique opportunity to play the game they love, their way. As the first official mod solution for PC, consoles, mobile and VR, we have been excited to help Spiderling Studios connect more with fans,” says Scott Reismanis, CEO and co-founder of mod.io.
mod.io allows player-created mods to be curated for quality and safety, making them available on all platforms where the game can be purchased and played. The main goal of mod.io is to make modding official, accessible and available everywhere.
mod.io was launched in 2019 and is now used by over 90 games, including Skater XL, Deep Rock Galactic, Humankind, Fireworks Mania, and SnowRunner. mod.io helps studios grow their communities of creators, paving the way for the adoption of mods in games spanning PC, console, mobile, and VR platforms. Every month, over 17 million pieces of user-generated content are distributed through mod.io to over 3 million players. Each year, this represents hundreds of millions of content, created by fans, shared with their community and supported by the developer whose product is constantly evolving.
Besiege is available now on Windows, Humble, GOG and Steam, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC Games Pass starting this week.
